Intermediate Care Facility

This is a health facility that provides medically related services to persons with a variety of physical or emotional conditions requiring institutional facilities but without the degree of care provided by a hospital or skilled nursing facility. This is care for stable conditions requiring daily but not 24-hour nursing supervision. This type of care is often following a hospital stay or surgery and reduces the time spent in a hospital.
